Interviewing for a job is always nerve wracking but the part I honestly find the most nerve wracking is the salary discussions and negotiations because what if you said something wrong or screwed up your future earning potential? Know your worth! No one taught me this but I had to learn and research this on my own as well as attended Shang’s workshop! P.S. she has a course on salary negotiations! Here are the three biggest tips I found the most helpful so I wanted to share it for everyone who is going through salary negotiation! It’s a lot of preparation and research ahead of time so you know what you’re working with! You wouldn’t go into an interview blind would you so don’t go into the “salary expectations” or salary negotiation process blind either!

For some reason when people ask me what they can do to learn and upskill in tech, most of the times the paid courses and training or higher education is the first thing that comes to mind. However, look at this list! MOST of this is free and accessible to anyone that has access to a device that has Internet connection!
When I try to learn and upskill in tech, I resort to YouTube for crowdsourced information (watching many different videos), cross reference Google, YouTube, Quora, or Reddit for answers on targeted questions, network with professionals in areas of interest on what they have done to get to where they are, and do a lot of personal projects and research. Google search and YouTube were my go to for troubleshooting, researching, and getting questions answered. All are free! Plus, you get to grow your network with amazing people!

I’ve only known how to hunt for jobs for internships and for my one job at Accenture (my first job application in college for entry level and landed it!), but because I had family that stayed in the same job for decades and friends that have not changed jobs yet, I had to learn a lot of this alone in this journey on how they actually differ and what to watch out for, so here are my lessons learned! We’re always told to ask good questions after (or even during) a job interview, but instead of asking meaningless questions, here are some good questions to ask in a job interview to not only impress the interviewers but also for you to find out if this job and company are right for you!
Here are the reasons why I pursued consulting and this could be the reason why you should too! Consulting can provide a wealth of experience and some can argue that one year in consulting would provide more experience than one year in a non-consulting role. Would you agree?

Today, we’ll be helping Shirley tailor her resume for technology consulting! Most people with experience and skills either in tech, business, or consulting just need to tailor their resume to spruce it up truly tailor it to the the role or the career itself!
