I’ve finally ramped up and working full speed towards the holidays with my clients. Being an advertising solutions architect in shopping at Google, I work with retail clients preparing for the holiday season on their shopping feeds and feature activation. I also went into the office (the 9th ave NYC office) and brought Addison, Derek, and Christy over as well to also celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival at Google! Google NYC Office: Noogler Lessons Learned

I took @addisonjchen to the Google office! We’re finally allowed social guests in the NYC office! Took this photo at the rooftop terrace on 9th Ave’s 14th floor with sweeping views of NYC skyline and beautiful weather.

Lessons I learned so far:
⭐️ Embrace being new! Being an experienced hire this time around, I felt pressured to know a lot on the get go, but it’s okay to just start all over! Every company does things differently and take your time.
⭐️ Explore and learn as much as you can! The offices, the culture, the people, the work, the crossfunctional teams, the workshops and courses, everything!
⭐️ It really is what you make of it! If you are not proactive, there will be missed opportunities. Jump on it and ask what you can work on or try out or even shadow before being asked to!

Ways to Learn and Upskill in Tech

For some reason when people ask me what they can do to learn and upskill in tech, most of the times the paid courses and training or higher education is the first thing that comes to mind. However, look at this list! MOST of this is free and accessible to anyone that has access to a device that has Internet connection!

When I try to learn and upskill in tech, I resort to YouTube for crowdsourced information (watching many different videos), cross reference Google, YouTube, Quora, or Reddit for answers on targeted questions, network with professionals in areas of interest on what they have done to get to where they are, and do a lot of personal projects and research. Google search and YouTube were my go to for troubleshooting, researching, and getting questions answered. All are free! Plus, you get to grow your network with amazing people!

WORK WEEK IN MY LIFE VLOG: My Last Week at Accenture | Rolling Off, Transitioning, Going to Office

I landed a technology consulting job at Accenture when I graduated back in 2018, and I’ve been at Accenture for 3 years, so I’m bittersweet for closing this chapter with this last week vlog! It has been an amazing experience whether it be meeting people (Accenture and clients), amazing experiences and memories, and all of the wealth of knowledge I learned about navigating the workplace, client engagements, and Accenture in general! Here’s a last tribute to my time at Accenture with this vlog from rolling off my last client project, transitioning off with knowledge transfer sessions for the multiple hats I wear, and going to the office and saying goodbye! It’s not a goodbye, but rather a see you later!

Even though I’m no longer in a consulting firm, there will still be tech consulting content (and I can be a little more candid now with no conflict of interest) as well and this time more content about my experience and time in a FAANG (or is it MANGA now?) company!

This has been a big secret I’ve been holding for three months now! My last day as a Workday Financials technology consultant at Accenture was March 2, 2022 and my first day at my new company and new role starts on March 14! I explain why I start looking, how I started looking, the timeline of what exactly happened (separate video on the actual interview process coming soon!) and the big reveal of my new role and company! So excited for this new step in my career!
