It’s been 6 months since I started my role as a Google Shopping Advertising Solutions Architect at Google, and I purposely waited to make this video so I had a good picture of what exactly does this role entail. A lot of this video is also going to bring comparisons on how this role is similar or different from technology consulting in a traditional consulting firm! Check it out!
Right after Reorientation in Mountain View, we went to LA before going home! Here is a little vlog where we went to Universal Studios (Addison’s first time!), Hollywood, Echo Park, and even tattoos and coffee at Super Sweet Tattoo and Coffee! Then we ended the night with Ktown before working from home on Monday, meeting up with Jake after many years, and then going to the Google Playa Vista Office! Gorgeous!
As part of the Noogler experience for those who onboarded with Google gTech during the pandemic or even post-pandemic, you probably had a virtual orientation and then got invited to the reorientation on campus in the Mountain View campus! I went to Trek Week 2-3 weeks before, but this time I brought Addison with me who worked from the hotel as I went to Reorientation! I was able to explore more of the Mountain View campus AND get a tour of the Bay View campus! Also, subscribe for more because LA vlog right after that is coming up!
I’ve finally ramped up and working full speed towards the holidays with my clients. Being an advertising solutions architect in shopping at Google, I work with retail clients preparing for the holiday season on their shopping feeds and feature activation. I also went into the office (the 9th ave NYC office) and brought Addison, Derek, and Christy over as well to also celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival at Google! This was the inaugural program for Google’s gTech gPS Consulting Bootcamp: Trek Week! Nooglers from all over the world aligned to gTech gPS came to Mountain View Campus in July of 2022 for a consulting bootcamp, opportunities to meet other Nooglers, and learn more about the organization! We learned so much, had so much fun, and explored the campus and the gBikes (my fave part)! Check out this vlog where I started off at the Google San Francisco campus and then headed over to Google Mountain View campus for Trek Week!
I took @addisonjchen to the Google office! We’re finally allowed social guests in the NYC office! Took this photo at the rooftop terrace on 9th Ave’s 14th floor with sweeping views of NYC skyline and beautiful weather.
Lessons I learned so far:
⭐️ Embrace being new! Being an experienced hire this time around, I felt pressured to know a lot on the get go, but it’s okay to just start all over! Every company does things differently and take your time.
⭐️ Explore and learn as much as you can! The offices, the culture, the people, the work, the crossfunctional teams, the workshops and courses, everything!
⭐️ It really is what you make of it! If you are not proactive, there will be missed opportunities. Jump on it and ask what you can work on or try out or even shadow before being asked to!

Four weeks in, I am still enjoying my Noogler Experience as a Shopping Advertising Solutions Architect in the Google New York Hudson 315 office! This is a day in my life in the office when I’m still a Noogler getting the hang of the ropes of the role, doing tons of training and readings, learning on the job through shadowing opportunities and assignments, and doing one-on-ones to meet everyone on the team (over 20 across North America)! Oh yeah, and the free delicious food!
