My Public Speaking Tips!

It may come as a shock to many people that I used to be the absolute worst in public speaking. Even presenting to ONE PERSON! From stuttering, no eye contact, reading off of a piece of paper, shaking voice, these are the main tips I ended up doing that really helped.

I still get nervous when talking to large groups of people (virtual less so), but really just being comfortable with being uncomfortable I think is my BIGGEST tip and it’s easier said that done, but forcing yourself to speak in front of big groups either volunteering to present or becoming a host for townhalls at work, speak at school events, or even starting a YouTube channel!

Let me know what other tips you had in public speaking! I do plan on making a video on this because as someone who is an introvert who spoke in broken English due to my Asian American background, I never imagined myself speaking at large events or in big townhalls and presentations at work. Maybe someone could relate!

What can you do with a low GPA?

How can you get a job or internship if you have a low GPA? Grades are not the end of the world; I did poorly on exams (I still do, I hate the “a or c” or “all of the above” questions), and your self worth is not determined by your grades. You are determined by the type of person you put out in this world. Not ever did my grades ever come into question in my job in #consulting. In fact most companies don’t even ask after your first job.

If you ARE trying to find an internship or job and you have a low gpa, what can you do then? Here are the tips I have for you that I personally did in school to maximize my chances for a great entry level job!

Which one would you try to do today? Which one have you tried before? Let me know in the comments!

I also did a full video on this topic, so if you’re interested in learning more, head over to my YouTube channel!

What if you don’t know the answer?

I love this because we are always asked to know the answers! But how exactly should you answer questions you don’t know? Deflecting is not the way, but there are so many other ways you can respond to clients (or team members!) when they ask a question!

Especially in my first year in consulting, I didn’t know anything about Workday, the industry my clients were in, and “best practices.” I had to start from the ground up but I did draw from my experiences in my past jobs and internships! You always want to be honest and transparent but also be a trustworthy and knowledgeable consultant even when you just graduated. Here are my takes!

What is your go to and how would you rank these yourself in order of preference! Do you have something else you do instead? Share them in a comment down below!
