Addison Chen: Technology Consultant, Medium Writer, & My Boyfriend! | TECHNOLOGY PROFESSIONALS

You guys see him on my YouTube channel and on my podcast a lot! I finally interview my boyfriend, Addison Chen! He is also a technology consultant at Accenture, but what’s interesting is despite both of us being Chinese Americans born and raised in New York, our journeys becoming technology consultants at Accenture have been vastly different. He studied at SUNY Albany, a state university in New York with a degree in computer science and math, and entered the workforce with no internships or work experience as an IT consultant at a small firm (less than 5 people!) in New York City and then later moved into Accenture (over 50K people!). He also writes Medium articles on the side about coding and other topics like real estate!

FUN FACT: We met on Coffee Meets Bagel because I saw his job title said he was a technology consultant. Our first two hours texting each other were literally about computer science and coding! A couple that codes together stays together.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE GETTING A CAT | My Experience as a Cat Mommy

Today is Christmas Eve, and this marks my one year anniversary having Sora, my second cat! I thought this would be a fun video to go over my experience and tips for you all with cats!

Our Friendship’s Becoming

I sit down with two my closest friends, Michelle Lam and Sally Chen, as we recount our friendship and how it came to be. We built very deep relationships with each other where we know what makes each other tick, what our tendencies are, and even the uglies with our demons with each other. We are 100% honest and do NOT put in any “sugar fluff,” so this is a fun episode to listen to!

How to Get a JOB OR INTERNSHIP with a LOW GPA | How I Got My Job in Consulting

In my Job and Internships Rejections Story video, I went over how I got rejected by many jobs and internships due to a low GPA, but I worked my way up to eventually land a full time job in NYC at Accenture, my DREAM JOB! Due to BU’s intense grades deflation, my GPA took a huge hit, but I was able to get back up on my feet. It was a long and hard journey, but these are all my tips I used.

My 6 Month Journey to YouTube Monetization!

I’m finally monetized on YouTube, and I wanted to let everyone know about my journey in hopes this would help you!

My Background:
• I’m a full time technology consultant at Accenture for two years at this point. My intention was to never be a full time YouTuber/podcaster and it will stay that way.
• I started YouTube seriously in May 2020.
• I started monetizing on YouTube on December 7th.
• I did one video a week up until July when I started doing two videos a week.
• I started a Facebook group in June called the Technology Consulting Community. There are currently 1000+ members. I post only my tech consulting related videos, but I also started exclusive programs like case interview programs, pro bono consulting programs, virtual networking events.
• My niche has evolved over time. It first started with just technology consulting and professional development. It has now evolved more towards “content for the young working professional” with a focus on technology consulting, career skills, personal development, and money.
• I also started a podcast starting in October. Video interviews are on YouTube, audio interviews hosted on Anchor. There are also podcast exclusives that can’t be found on YouTube.

These are not all of my tips, but comment down below on yours!

Three Top Reasons Why Technology Consulting Isn’t For You

I constantly preach about technology consulting as an amazing career and option for many people to discover your love within technology or through many projects, clients, and industries, but there are still reasons why technology consulting might not be for you. I can only come up with three SPECIFIC to technology consulting and not other types of consulting.

If you are debating between consulting disciplines or just other career paths within tech in general, this is the video for you!

Caitlin Jones: Personal Trainer, Entrepreneur, Real Estate Investor | WOMEN OF INSPIRATION

New podcast episode up!

I met Caitlin Jones (@caitlinjones) a year ago when I was apprehensive towards group fitness classes. Especially when I never did spin classes before! Caitlin was my very first spin instructor at Flywheel, and I was HOOKED! I loved her energy and has been following her ever since! Due to the pandemic, the fitness industry changed a lot, and I caught up with her on what she’s been up to. I didn’t even know about half of what she’s done until I sat down with her for this episode! There is also a huge focus on mental & emotional health and happiness on this episode, so you don’t want to miss this!

Caitlin graduated with a degree in business from Carnegie Mellon University, became a dancer for the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA to pursue her passion in dance, and while doing so also worked at Flywheel and WillyB Crossfit! She also invests in real estate as well which I found was incredibly interesting! During the pandemic, she became her own boss with her own online fitness program and personal training!

Mistakes in the Workplace

I’ve made my fair share of mistakes that at first seem harmless but can have much bigger negative impacts in the workplace! Either to clients, your team, or even yourself!

I notice the more work and stress I get, the more mistakes I’m prone to. Unfortunately, even mistakes in your respective areas that you didn’t make are still your responsibility and I learned that this week.

What are some mistakes you made at work?
