Best Internships for Consulting

One common question I get is what internships should you get if you want to pursue consulting, and it’s a trick question because most people instantly think of Big 4, MBB, or Accenture (gotta add it to the list), but they think if they don’t get a consulting internship it’s game over.

Find roles and programs where you can grow and cultivate these skills. The title may not seem entirely related but the nature of the work is. It’s all about the story and the transferable skills. Some internships that could translate well would be data analytics, market research, supply chain management, operations management, IT project management, product management, financial analysis, and so much more. And even on top of the “role,” actually working on these skills are not guaranteed so you may want to go out of your way to put them to practice either by talking to your supervisor or doing it outside of your internship.

Technology Consulting Community’s pro Bono consulting program is a GREAT example of getting real experience with clients and working on all these skills! It’s free, global, and very fulfilling, so comment down below if you’re interested in learning more as we do rolling applications and send out an interest form to our email list and Facebook group for our next round of clients!

What Breed Is My Cat? The Basepaws Cat DNA Results are IN! | Meet My Cat Charlotte

On January 15 of 2021, I adopted my foster cat, Charlotte, from Best Friends Animal Society! I haven’t really included her on my channel much because I was waiting for this video to give a big bang! Since she’s a domestic shorthair and we don’t have much history from her, I decided to do the Basepaws DNA test to see her health and genetic makeup! Let’s see what other cat breeds she’s closely related to! THE RESULTS ARE SHOCKING!

What is the Kanban Method?

Do you know what the kanban method is? I think everyone has seen some form of kanban (even the assembly line in fast food chains), but didn’t know there was an actual name for it or that the tech industry uses it too!

If you’re interested in tech, you must know what it is and how it is applied. Sometimes this can be used as a project management tool in consulting, features to develop in software engineering teams, and user stories on product teams. This honestly can be applied to many other aspects of life as well like pipelines!

Testimonials

I wanted to share another successful story! My YouTube channel has content for four pillars of content in technology consulting: what is tech consulting, how to get a job in tech consulting, how I got into Accenture, and how to do well on the job in tech consulting. The video content itself is left pretty vague but they are nuggets of advice I have done myself or know others have done and I think it is transferable to other firms and even areas of consulting! My Public Speaking Tips!

It may come as a shock to many people that I used to be the absolute worst in public speaking. Even presenting to ONE PERSON! From stuttering, no eye contact, reading off of a piece of paper, shaking voice, these are the main tips I ended up doing that really helped.

I still get nervous when talking to large groups of people (virtual less so), but really just being comfortable with being uncomfortable I think is my BIGGEST tip and it’s easier said that done, but forcing yourself to speak in front of big groups either volunteering to present or becoming a host for townhalls at work, speak at school events, or even starting a YouTube channel!

Let me know what other tips you had in public speaking! I do plan on making a video on this because as someone who is an introvert who spoke in broken English due to my Asian American background, I never imagined myself speaking at large events or in big townhalls and presentations at work. Maybe someone could relate!
