We wanted to talk about this topic so many of you have asked me about and that’s how is life after the pandemic in the world of consulting! In this video, I brought my friend Derek Mei, who is in UX design at a tech startup as well as my boyfriend, Addison Chen, who is also a technology consultant at Accenture much like myself! We also explored Thai Town in the beginning before we decided to record this video at the park for a change of scenery from my other sit-down videos!
2020 definitely sucked. No doubt about it. SO MANY THINGS HAPPENED that brought in a lot of negativity. But let’s also look at all the positivity. A fight for change, resilience and triumph, perseverance and ambition. I’ve seen many amazing fruits born from this year despite the dirt being soiled.
It’s important to recognize that this year definitely was not an easy year. But it’s also important not to undermine all the efforts you and those around you have done to overcome these struggles.
If there is something holding you back or something you’ve been wanting to do, why not do it now?
Due to COVID19, many students are struggling to get internships and you may still be trying to find one! Don’t give up! For those that have found internships, they are most likely virtual or remote where you’re plugging away at home and not getting the true internship experience. For some, the main goal of the internship is to get that return offer, and it’s definitely whole a different ball game on exactly how to stand out and show that you’re worthy of one.
In my video today, I give you all my tips on how to succeed on getting your return offer VIRTUAL OR NOT, so if your internship is in person, you can still benefit from this video. Majority of these will be catered towards virtual or remote internships, but the exact same applies for if you’re in person.
I’ve had seven internships from high school through college, and I learned a lot by making mistakes and moving forward, so these were tips I picked up over time that helped curate a successful and valuable internship experience. I also learned how to get the most out of my internships as well to progress my career, whether or not it’s relating to my ideal career path! I go over in this video how you can get the most worth out of your internship today or in the future!

I am currently a technology consultant at Accenture in NYC for about two years now, and what better way to go over what exactly do I do them when I’m in quarantine and can actually tell you (and not be judged by people in the office). I know this is a long vlog, but I put in an educational segment every day as well for you to learn exactly how it is as a tech consultant. I talk about how a work week in technology consulting is like (in quarantine or working from home), what to expect, and the life that comes around it! Each day will cover each of these segments: how to stand out in a client call as an entry level, how are we and Accenture dealing with COVID-19 Quarantine, work life balance in consulting, differences (and skills needed) in Technology Consulting vs. Management or Strategy Consulting, and lastly, career counselors and performance achievement at Accenture or in the consulting industry.
As we live in NYC, one of the major epicenters of this pandemic, we’re trying to make the most of the situation and hope you are too wherever you are! For me, it has been very similar to how it is when I work remotely but of course some modifications were made since we can’t go outside as freely like to my boxing classes and to minor errands. Make sure to stay at home, stay healthy, stay safe, and wash your hands often! Do this for yourself and for everyone around you. We can do this guys!
